I hadn't realised how much I used my Blog as a point of reference and repository until I stopped updating it.
Here are my efforts from last Saturday morning - when I should have been doing 'paying jobs' - the new Pope certainly has an interesting face !
I'll post some commission work in the coming week.
Well the Blog's not completely dead yet - thought I'd pop a couple more on. At least I can find them here and on Photobucket, Facebook is like yesterday's newspaper.
Caricature done for Jan Op de Beeck's Digital Workshop on the ISCA Forum.
This is Dave Emerson - 'Emo' - a renowned cartoonist from the Hunter Valley north of Sydney.
A character in every sense of the word - he lives in constant fear of a CIA cell that he's sure operates in his street.
They have a new weapon !!
The Blog activity has declined over the last 18months and Blogging may have run it's course.
I've got two websites to overhaul and am dipping my toes back into the labyrinth of Facebook mainly to get a business page operating. I've had serious advice there's money in that !
I've dropped back into proud Grandparent mode - here's young Oliver at almost six months.
He's a happy little tacker but sadly he's had a few health issues with a bowel problem that has required a couple of fast ambulance trips. Long story but it should be hopefully resolved soon.
His indoctrination into the Tractor Boys has commenced ............... you'll also note he's gone for Grandad's hairstyle in a big way !
Nothing to do with caricatures - Sunday I spent the day at the RAAF Pearce Air show just North of Perth.
I'm a bit of an Aircraft geek, having grown up living on airbases. My late father was a career RAF man.
Beautiful weather, clear skies and lots of noise !
I went to the 2005 show ( this was far better ) but spent the day watching through my camera lense.
Only took one worthwhile shot this year, B52 flypast, decided to just enjoy the noise and awe !
Traffic was a nightmare getting to and from the event - but I'll be back there for the next one.
I really must get to the big bi annual show in Avalon, Victoria.
Here's a snippet of the day's events from the local Channel nine news.
I spent three days the weekend before last at the Western Australia V8 Supercars event at Barbagallo Raceway, Wanneroo. I worked for Samsung in the Vodafone Holden team marquee demonstrating the sketching abilities of the new Samsung Galaxy Note phone/pad. Using the standard installed 'Memo S' software I drew 'free' caricatures for all who wanted them. It was non stop.
The supplied stylus/pen has 128 levels of sensitivity but a combination of the size, and probably my eyesight, didn't make it too easy. The object of the exercise was showing off it's capabilities rather than promoting it as a mini Cintiq - all in all, certainly an experience.
Handy bit of gear though, beautiful HD screen.
Here's a couple of new one's where the clients supplied comparison photo's of the happy victims !
Nice comments too -
Just a quick note to thank you for your work with Paul's caricature. We had a fantastic night with family and close friends and your creativity was a great hit, with exclamations of how clever the likeness etc etc. I said I had your contact for any future reference. Keep up the great work as you must be bringing many smiles all across Perth to people who have discovered you - a very praiseworthy contribution to society in my estimation! '
I really must post more regularly.................
A little bit of self indulgence here - Oliver William Dunnett - our first grandchild.
Born last night at Mercy Hospital, Perth.
Mum & Dad and young Oliver doing really well ...... grandparents ecstatic !!!
Here's a few commission jobs to kick off 2012 - top right is another magazine cover 'roast' I'm really trying to promote - particularly to corporate clients. It helps side step all that peripheral clutter that so many people want to load into caricatures - not only does it visually pollute the finished job - it takes so much tedious time.
Would you believe we have professional caricaturists advertising they'll put all that 'crap' in for - no charge ! Strewth they must be short of work.
