No more squinting .........

After a period of indecision - do I need a Cintique etc ? - I've finally decided to head for larger screen acreage. A new 30" LCD to go with the 24" which now runs in portrait mode alongside.
I must admit they were a bit overwhelming when I first started using them both. How quickly you get used to them though. Brilliant for putting large collages together and having lots of reference stuff up while your working. Watching TV on the second one - poser eh ?
They are both Dell's - the 24" I've had for over three years, just a few problems with the USB hub ( they replaced the monitor after 2 years ). The 3 year warranty is pleasing.
I haven't flipped to the 'dark side' though the smart bit that works it all is the MacPro under the desk.
Remains to be seen if it improves the quality of the work but all the lights in the street dim when I turn it on !!!

That looks like a great set up Tel, I'll have to struggle on with my single 19" Dell for the time being! Doubt my old PC could cope with that lot either :)

Cheers Neil and Jan.

You've got to spoil yourself once in a while. I spend a lot of time sitting, working ( .. and earning) using this thing - but the general attitude with computers is think cheap.
Now I have to big lumps of depreciating steel in the car port we don't think twice about forking out on those - 'the sun roof and the mag wheels sir' - if you apply the general silliness of car purchasing to computers I'm actually a bit of a scrooge !!!
Should be Apple monitors.

Hey, I was studying web design and when I saw your new set up and..., I dropped everything and started painting. I have a 15 inch monitor, and it works fine for me but looking at your set up, makes me wanna buy a bigger screen! BTW, your website is awesome, I clicked through it today for the first time, good job!

Cheers David - thanks - you don't actually 'need' all that monitor acreage but it's so nice !
Love you stuff BTW

Great monitor set up Tel! I have also been thinking about a new larger monitor rather than a cintiq. My wacom tablet gives me all I need really and the cintiq will not change much for me in terms of productivity or improvement of drawing skills. So I may treat myself to a 30inch Dell (Apple way to expensive) screen to run along side my 24inch iMac. And yes 2 litres of water a day supplemented with a few cold beers makes life worth living!

Thanks for dropping in Steve - mate you're always away on trips !!!
I'm not sure but I think the iMac will only drive another 24" at the same resolution as your current desktop - you'll have to forgo that extra 6 inches !!!!
