Sad times ........

My apologies for the hiatus in the Blog, I'm currently in the UK as my father passed away a couple of weeks ago. He had been ill for some time so it was sort of expected but nonetheless his sudden decline came as a shock. I'll be over here for some time arranging for my mother's care.
I've an armful of commissions to fill up any quiet moments.

Terry, you have my deepest sympathies on the loss of your Dad. As I write this I'm taking a break from getting ready for a visit from my Dad. Your loss will make me appreciate my time with my father even more.
Looking at your Dad's photos you can certainly see the family resemblance.

I am so utterly sorry to hear that, Tel. You certainly have my prayers and condolences. Losing someone so close is never easy, regardless of how expected it may be. There’s just no way to truly prepare for it. I wish you all the best and hope you’ll find a speedy road to peace. My thoughts are with you and your family.

By the way, that is a very well-designed and elegant collage of photos.

Many thanks for the kind words I really appreciate all the great friends out there in the world of caricature.
I've got a handle on all the paperwork that has to be done - and there's a lot. Mum has been great considering.
I am though a little apprehensive of the eulogy I'm to give in the packed village church for the funeral next week - not the content but the ability to deliver. A lot of things I should have said while he was here - one of the drawbacks of being English I guess !!

Many thanks Andres and Steve - we had the funeral on Wednesday and I got through the eulogy with only a few pauses toward the end. Wonderful turnout and many tears but Mum was a rock. She's a tough one at 86 - we had a big hug when it was all over.
I've managed to find her a place in a care home - Woodbridge Alms houses in Suffolk and we'll have her there by the time I leave. Nice motel style accommodation with 24 hour care - Mum's legally blind so she can no longer stay in the house. Selling that is another issue !!
Though my sister and I live in Australia she doesn't want to leave England. With a sister in law and a couple of old school friends in the same home it looks an ideal solution.
I thank you all for your thoughts and best wishes.
