A speed painting exercise that I probably couldn't have picked a more difficult subject for. Caricaturing a caricature. Mrs Slocombe is the role that Mollie Sugden made part of British TV folklore in the very dated 'Are you being served'. Mollie died this week aged 86.She had more 'pussy' one liners than most blue stand up comedians !
In a week when the world is grief stricken over the death of a talented but very strange man, who you would have wanted under Police surveillance if he lived in your street, Mollie and a couple of others got overlooked.
Not at all happy with it BTW - but there you go !!

Tel when you say "speed" painting..how much timee did you spend on it ?and did you do a pencil sketch first ? sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to get to grips with caricaturing
About 50 minutes all up John including the sketch -
great big 'hair brush' with the setting to change colours as I go.
It won't be on my website where the 'punters' see it !
Tel the expression on the face is spot on - are we the only old timers who will remember this prog tho lol - I can jus picture you postin summat u aint quite happy with bet the OCD kickin in as we speak lol - great work as always !
OCD - that's 'obsessive, compulsive disorder' Tony - guilty as charged always going back and fiddling !
I've got a heap of jobs on at the moment so this one will have to stay as is.

I'm 26 and i just scrape in the memories of seeing her on telly... probably reruns though now I think about it... along with MASH. ha!
I too suffer from the OCD of never finishing a painting... just getting sick of it and moving on to the next one. :P

Thanks Carl - I think it's a common affliction, OCD that it is, not many of us can open up an old work and stop fiddling with it !!!
