I've just lashed out buying Adobe Illustrator CS4 with the influx I've had of vehicle drawings. It makes a far superior job on producing cars, boats, trucks - all manner of mechanical devices. You can always bring it back into PS to put in all those little embellishments that finish off a job so well.
I paid the extra for the manual, as a former Freehand user, I'll need it.

Hot stuff Tel what a machine.
Nice wheels! Always love your vehicles. Do you draw them from scratch?

Cheers Nelson - I'd hate the fuel bill !!
Thanks for dropping in Kamal - it varies how I do them sometimes photoshopped. This one was painted from scratch as the photo's supplied were crap. Took way too long and I didn't charge enough.
With Illustrator I hope to build up a library of car types and because of the nature of vector based programmes I can interchange bits - they'll look better and take less time. Finishing them off in PS will give that 'painterly' effect.
That's the theory anyway !!
This is one of my favourites of yours Terry , you've really stepped it up ! love the limited colour use & the contrast between the FG and the abstract BG, I recon it's a good move to use Illustrator for your vehicles, in my opinion it's much better than just using photoshoped photo's
Thanks Nico
Anthony that's a top compliment from you mate - your cars, painted with acrylic to boot, are really special.
You're right Photoshopping wasn't the purists approach - BUT - the economical way. The trucks and the Mustang took a lot of work to paint in PS.
Illustrator is the far better alternative ... then again the 'purist' wouldn't agree on that either would they ?
It's a balance - if the customers happy and I'm comfortable with what I'm making we're all happy !
Awesome job Tel!!
Great one, love the car.
Thanks Paul and Patrick.
That's great from two guys of your abilities - cheers.
Hey, great job Tel!!!! Lots of action and movement in this one. Love the border as well!
I really like the car and streak action in background.
Also using Photoshop's "spark" tool brush for the shine of the car, wrench and ice cream dropping! :)
You have to pay extra for the manual ? If I'dd sell my caricatures with a users manual, I might ask more ..... hmmm now there's something......
Top stuff as usual, even with ps....(LOL)
Thanks Angie - sparkle brush and lens flare too - too many toys there !!
LOL thanks Hanzz - that's the big thick paper one with lots of pages pages that gets mailed to me - I can't get on with online manuals I like the 'real thing' !!
