Mattski of Dubai

These are really fun to do - as I've said before clients rarely give you open slather to this to a face - other caricaturists enjoy it. This is Matt Ryder who has a caricature business in exotic Dubai. Cheers Matt.

March commissions....

March seems to consist of pretty young things to caricature - lovely to look at - but nowhere near the fun of getting stuck into a gnarled older male for a 'send off'. Just got a couple of those - go for it they said !!

Farewell Rumpole style ...

The client wanted a farewell for a lawyer, heading East, to depict him in the classic Rumpole pose - with a squash racket, X-Box and a picture of Borat in his 'mankini'  on the wall.
Mission accomplished !!

Happy Birthday with ............ transvestites !!!

A Perth woman celebrating her 40th at a Disco Fever party with two transvestites - one who had to have been a Rugby League player !!! The photos supplied by the client were really blurry but he reckons I made such a good job of the ' Trannies ' he has real concerns for me !!!!! - he's not the first to say that ....... :0)  ( these heels are a killer BTW !)

Police Sketch Artist

I come from a background of a Police Artist who now does caricatures - the reverse also works well. Made me smile - and is the basis of lots of Police Artist jokes.
Enjoy
ps .... found it on Tom Richmonds Blog

Geronimo !!!!!

Two weeks since I've posted anything, had a little break and managed to have some fun with 'Geronimo' AKA Gerald Koller, fellow caricaturist and member of the Austrian Police and an aspiring Police Artist no less.
It's the sort of fun not many clients allow you to do with their loved one's faces.
Thanks Geronimo - enjoyed myself !!

Another Birthday

Now I'm not sure what Birthday milestone this one was - I think a 60th - commissioned by the Son and Daughter who are both depicted standing behind Dad. Lovely clients to deal with and they were so happy with the final. I hope Dad loves it.

The Wedding Chauffeur

A caricature presented to the Chauffeur from a bridal couple who left the ceremony in a 1966 bright red Ford Mustang. Yep your right the car was the hard part - hate drawing Fords :0) !

Everyone is 50 in 2008 !

1958 must have been a real belter in the maternity hospitals - I've had a string of 50th birthday caricatures - this one, a Mart Feldman lookalike, didn't actually need a lot of caricaturing. The client said this will be an easy one for you he's a natural caricature !

yet another Wedding ....

The Groom and his four Groomsman for an upcoming wedding.
Always getting five into a collage without it looking too 'stiff' or too cluttered is a problem.
Not sure if this worked or not.

Now that's a smile

And here's the final finished - with - pet dog and the bridge as well.

Half way through a wedding commission for a Sydney couple. The bride has such a great smile I couldn't help popping it on the blog. I'll post the full collage later when I've finished it.

.... another couple of fifties !!

50 - the big five zero - that time in life where you've got most of the stuff you want and caricatures make great presents - for the man ( or woman) who has everything ! (... and a lot more memorable than ties and socks ..... or a health club membership - yeh right, what are they telling you !)
A fisherman bought by his wife and an Eagles fan, bought by his mates, who really wanted 'the business' on him. Love those !

Fireman's retirement

Caricature of a retiring Perth fireman - took a while to create the Perth Armageddon scene in the background - ain't Photoshop wonderful !!!

Another Wedding ....

A different reversal of roles here .... one that could only occur in the world of caricature !!

Jim McGinty

My take on West Australia's Attorney General- Jim McGinty - probably the least popular State politician since Graham Kierath. Has been involved in more 'cock up's and gaff's' than you can poke a stick at - arrogant, self righteous with heaps of  'loony left' political correctness.
He may have trodden in something that sticks to his shoe this time - let's hope so !

Farmer's Birthday

Just finished a new commission for a Sou' West Farmers 50th Birthday.
The family loved it.

Geronimo !!!!!

Gerald Koller is a Police Officer from Vienna, Austria who caricatures under the name 'Geronimo' ( bit more dynamic than Tel, eh ?) ... his take on yours truly.
Gerald attended the Kreuger ( .. the world's No 1 caricaturing guru !) Workshop in late 2007.

Charity auction caricature

This is another caricature that was auctioned for charity, in this instance the winning bidder had a commission of their choice, in this case her Father for his birthday. Very well received - oh the charity was for Carson Street Education Support School P & C Assoc in East Victoria Park, Perth where my wife, Nola, is the school nurse so it had to be a good 'un !!!

My studio

This is my work area in about it's normal state, I don't let it get too disorganised as I can't find anything at all. People often ask me what type of computer I use and, like a lot of graphic artists, the tool of my choice is a Macintosh. I couldn't envisage using anything else and am an incorrigible 'Machead' !!
For the technical it's a MacPro 2 x 2.66Mhz dual core processors, 7 gigs of RAM, 4 x 250 Gig internal hard drives with two flat LCD screens a Dell 24" and an Apple 20" - I'm hoping to replace the Dell with a 30" Apple in 2008. Cost a fair bit but I spend a lot of time sitting in front of this lot and the quality, reliability and ease of use pays for itself - it's good gear.
Also I use an Epson 4800 printer and a Wacom Intuos 3 A5 drawing tablet.
The caricature of me on the wall was done by Vin Altamore of New Jersey, USA it's one of my favourites -check out his link.
