More weddings ......

Just finished this one - with all the cropped / no background extras for wedding paraphernalia.
They loved it - I most admit wedding caricatures are heading for 50% of the business these days.
You've gotta luv 'em !!!

The final collage is a compilation of all the 'bits' on individual layers. For a wedding commission I supply, in addition to the main 'final' (either framed or made into an A2 guest signing board ), an image of the couple with no background for invites, thankyou notes and table signs. Two 'Facebook' avatars and often the artwork, with titling, for stubbie holders and what's been popular a sepia tone version for wine labels.
In this instance I also get a '59 Cadillac convertible for my clip art library !
( ... do that in acrylic .... :0) !!)

It's the same over here Tel. Have you done or would you do a step by step of how you do these, now that I have my mac, I'm looking to use it!

Looks Great Tel! 50% huh? That's pretty significant, are you specifically marketing yourself to the wedding industry or is it mostly by word of mouth?

Hey Niall - I've added a little explanation of my 'wedding packages' to the client. It sounds like you're supplying a lot but it is really little extra work and you're left with happy punters - who tell their friends and guests !

Thanks Ian - it's crept up on me since I added a weddings page to my website. Weddings give a great deal of security to your income flow, they pay well BUT they order up to 18 months ahead. Brides always look for something different and in this part of the world caricatures are different.

There are a couple of wedding fairs in Perth every year and I'm going to have a stall at the next one with my 'package' and see how I go - I'm optimistic.

Doing caricatures of Susan Boyle while you sit at home waiting, hopefully, for a 50th birthday commission isn't really a business plan.

The aim is I want a new BMW like Niall buys every year !!!

Beautiful work Terry !...I'm also very interested in seeing your step by step...

Thanks Anthony - don't know about a 'step by step' - my process decisions are more commercial than artistically driven - the purists wouldn't like it. Luckily customers do.
Each item has it's own layer, people, vehicles, background, foreground and text. There's a final top layer on the main collage which I overpaint to clean up any edges/ blemishes / shadow inconsistencies. The final print often has 12 - 15 layers - you wouldn't pick it though. I can then take out layers to supply all the other products, change to sepia tones etc.
Every completed college not only is saved as a .psd but all the components individually too. I've got an extensive library for weddings.
Confetti, Orchid spray brushes. Wedding dress textures etc.
....... and that's as c;ose to a 'step by step' you're getting on line ............ ;0)

You set the bar for the wedding market, man! I like your approach of maximizing the uses for the artwork, too...Gonna have to try that!
